Tengen Toppa Twinboekun (天元突破ツインボークン Tengen Toppa Tsuinbōkun?, literally "Heaven-Piercing Twinboekun") is Jorgun and Balinbow's Tengen Toppa Gunmen formed during the final battle with the Granzeboma in the second movie adaptation of the series, The Lights in the Sky are Stars. It is later lost when it is used with the other Tengen Toppa Gunmen to form Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Mecha[]

Tengen Toppa Twinboekun draws its designs from the Twinboekun and its Space Gunmen equivalent, Space Twinboekun. Compared to its predecessors, Tengen Toppa Twinboekun has six faces: one for each pilot, one for each shoulder guard, and two minor, conjoined faces for its chest. The cockpit heads have minor variation in horn shape: the right has a straight horn and the left has a curved horn. Additionally, the eyes on its shoulder guards are different colors; the left shoulder has red eyes and the right shoulder has blue eyes.

It is the fourth Tengen Toppa Gunmen to appear after the Granzeboma destroys Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

In The Lights in the Sky are Stars[]

Tengen Toppa Twinboekun first appears to prevent the Granzeboma's Galaxy Shuriken from destroying Yoko's Tengen Toppa Yoko W Tank. After saving Yoko, Jorgun and Balinbow stand back as Kid and Iraak join the fight in Tengen Toppa Kidknuckle and Tengen Toppa Einzaurus. They later join the rest of Team Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren in focusing fire on the Granzeboma before the Tengen Toppa Gunmen combine to form Super Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann.

Attacks[]

In battle, Tengen Toppa Twinboekun mainly uses its two fists; just one possesses enough strength to crush a galaxy. It also has a cannon in each hand that it uses when it and the rest of the team focus their fire on Granzeboma.

Trivia[]

  • The drills on Tengen Toppa Twinboekun's knees may be a reference to another robot anime, King of Braves GaoGaiGar.
  • In the fansub, Tengen Toppa Twinboekun's name was mistranslated as Tengen Toppa Twin Vulcan.
  • The number of faces that Tengen Toppa Twinboekun has is Twinboekun's number of faces (two) multiplied by Space Twinboekun's number of faces (three).
  • The large faces on its shoulders appear to be a reference to the original Twinboekun, whose heads also acted as the shoulders of the Gunmen's arms.
