There are 27 episodes of Gurren Lagann including a special episode. It is divided into four parts. Each episode title is actually a line said by a main character. In part 1, it was Kamina's. In part 2, it was Nia's. In part 3, it was Rossiu's and in part 4, it was Simon's.
Part 1[]
The series begins when Simon, a shy, introverted boy living in the underground Jeeha Village, finds a small, glowing drill while digging new tunnels. His discovery soon leads to the uncovering of a strange robot, which his boisterous, hotheaded "bro", Kamina, insists that he use to find the legendary "surface" above the village. Joined by the beautiful sharpshooter Yoko and accompanied by their loyal pet pigmole, Boota, Simon and Kamina find themselves caught up in a grand adventure to defeat the Beastmen and make it to Gurren's recall point...

Part 2[]
Part 2 begins a week after the death of Kamina and Thymilph. Simon battles against the Beastmen with a berserk mindset; a heart full of rage and a mind full of hate towards his adversaries. What Simon eventually finds at rock bottom is a box. Inside it is Nia, the daughter of the boss of all of Team Dai-Gurren's adversaries, the Spiral King, Lordgenome. Simon and Nia continue their journey to the capital, Teppelin. With different goals, yet, on the same path, the fight for freedom on Earth resumes...

Part 3[]
This part of the series takes place seven years after the defeat of Lordgenome. Humanity has repopulated the surface, with Rossiu leading the reconstruction efforts. Dayakka and Kiyoh are happily married and expecting their first child and Simon asks Nia to marry him, but the peace is soon shattered when the doom Lordgenome claims, proves to be all too real. The Anti-Spiral gene that lay dormant, within Nia, awakens, becoming Messenger Nia; a loved one turned an enemy by a being named Antispiral. After the activation of the Humanity Eradication System, Anti-Spiral soldiers invade the Earth; the beginning of a chain of events that cause the man who had everything, to lose them all...

Part 4[]
The final part the series begins a week after the prevention of the moon crashing and Nia's recalling back to Antispiral's Universe. Team Dai-Gurren ensues a meeting amongst each other to plan their mission to battle against Antispiral to save Nia from their grasp, as well as learning the data they have gathered from Lordgenome. The potential loss of the battle against Mugann in space had left Rossiu with a conflicted mind, causing him to go back to his roots, Adai Village. Before the end of one of the greatest minds of humanity, Simon breaks through to him, to continue protecting the Earth in Team Dai-Gurren's absence. With all inconvenience out of the way, the greatest brawl in the universe begins...
