Artenborough Cortich (アーテンボロー・コアチッチ, Ātenborō Koachicchi?) is a hyperactive, impulsive, trigger-happy man, who is the gunner of Dai-Gurren's control team. He tends to fire at enemies or move Dai-Gurren without warning. After the timeskip, he joins Leeron's science team and still appears to have his hyperactive nature. After Team Dai-Gurren moved to Super Galaxy Dai-Gurren, he assumed the same position he had before at the weapons control. Curiously, this trait became one of Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann's attacks. He randomly showed up in the series one day, later it was confirmed that he snuck into somebody's luggage, and that is how he joined Team Dai-Gurren. He is voiced by Daisuke Kirii in the original dub , Derek Stephen Prince in the English dub and Gianluca Crisafi in the Italian Dub.

Appearance[]

Artenborough is a short man with brown floppy hair and oddly round lips, along with a small red nose. In these respects he somewhat resembles a clown. He wears the same pink-and-black striped shirt through most of the first arc and wears a standardised science team uniform after joining Leeron's team.

History[]

Beastmen War Arc[]

Artenborough does not have a major role in the first story arc. He is usually seen when the team needs to fire at an enemy, causing him to hit a button or several buttons that launch several explosive weapons simultaneously, with varying results.

Anti-Spiral War Arc[]

In the second arc he is first seen with Leeron's science team. He causes Leeron's chair to spin rapidly after misinterpreting a command made by him.

In the third arc he is onboard the Arc-Gurren Lagann and occupies the same role as in the first arc. He participates in the destruction of the fleet of Ashtanga and is later caught in the Anti-Spiral's illusion with the rest of the team. He is one of the pilots of the Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann and takes part in the final battle. Later, he is one of the people at Simon and Nia's wedding, although he doesn't have any dialogue.
